Description
This is another worksample. The task was to do a sculpture of a mythological creature that an artist could have had in is study during the middle of the 19th century. I decided to make a phoenix.
I have spent a lot of time on this, but I don't like it very much to be honest. I was hoping it would get sold when my school had an exhibition, but it wasn't
At first I made the body and the wings in clay. Then I made a layer of plaster and another layer of papier maché. When everything had dried I cut them apart, took out the clay and then glued them together again. I cut the feathers from cardboard and painted them (even on the edges beacuse the cardboard was white) The beak is also painted cardboard. The feet is wire with plaster. I added some silver tissue as feathers. The detalis on the feathers is gold paint, but you don't see it in this light. Then I glued all the parts together, pasted it and painted it several times. It took weeks!
